FLYING POLE Technique with Sophie Duncan (Beg.-Int.)

Start aerial pole the right way. This class is for absolute beginners to aerial pole, or confident pole dancers transferring to aerial pole. You’ll learn how to start the spin, perfectly under the point, using the G Force of the pole to make you fly. We’ll learn 3 different starting spins, and a handful of useful conditioning to get you moving towards powerful spin combos, and a cute starting combo which you can adapt to your level after the workshop.

About Sophie
Sophie Duncan is an award-winning creative director, choreographer, and performer, working in theatre, circus, radio, TV, film, and special events. Specializing in Aerial Pole and Pole Dance, she has performed with Cirque du Soleil, Bebe Rexha, Franco Dragone, and most recently at Glastonbury’s Opening Ceremony. Since 2021, she has toured globally with Florentina Holzinger’s productions, showcasing skills in pole stunts, harness work, and as a vocalist, while serving as associate choreographer for The Year Without Summer. She holds 11 pole titles, including Pole Theatre UK 2023 Overall Winner, Pole Art UK Overall 2022, EPC Pole Idols Winner 2024, and Pole Idols Hong Kong Overall Winner and Best Choreography. Sophie teaches at various studios in the UK, and is based as Venus Pole in London. She also teaches pole, dance and choreography at the National Centre for Circus Arts in London and is the creator and host the Public Showering Podcast.
