Jivamukti Basic - Forward Bend Special 95 ENGLISH

In our Jivamukti Basic classes, we explore basic postural alignment and principles of yoga philosophy that serve as the building blocks for developing a balanced yet profound yoga practice. Today’s class will have a special focus on forward bends. Forward bending takes us into our past, teaching us how to resolve old issues by letting go of negative emotions that become trapped in the hamstrings, hips, and back. After a short kriya cleansing practice, a warm-up sequence, and some sun salutations, we will explore in detail forward bends such as:

* paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend)

* janu shirshasana (Head-to-Knee Seat)

* agnistambhasana (Ankle-to-Knee Seat)

* ardha matsyendrasana (Fish)

The class will also introduce the traditional Jivamukti shoulderstand sequence at the end and conclude with a relaxing final relaxation. This class format is suitable for beginner yoga students and anyone interested in investigating yoga practice through its foundational principles. Here, you will learn “from scratch” how to properly approach the individual asanas (yoga postures) that are commonly practiced in our Three Boons and Jivamukti Open classes, presented in a vinyasa (sequenced) format.

DEUTSCH:

* paschimottanasana (Sitzende Vorwärtsbeuge)

* janu shirshasana (Kopf-zum-Knie-Sitz)

* agnistambhasana (Knöchel-zu-Knie-Sitz)

* ardha matsyendrasana (Fisch)

A New York native, Tara Sullivan has lived and worked in New Zealand, Central America, Woodstock, NY, Berkeley, CA, and is now thrilled to be in Berlin. Tara began her professional life as a soprano, and after graduating from Sarah Lawrence College with a Music degree she sang sacred and secular music professionally in and around New York City. She completed the rigorous three-year teacher certification program at the American Center for the Alexander Technique (ACAT) in 1998 and was a member of the Music faculty at Long Island University's C.W. Her over twenty years teaching the Alexander Technique have included an extensive private practice as well as a host of settings including universities, retreats, and community centers. Tara is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher, having completed the teacher training at Samadhi Yoga in Sydney (now Jivamukti Yoga Sydney) prior to the Jivamukti Yoga teacher training at the Omega Institute with Sharon Gannon, David Life, Yogeswari, and Ruth Lauer Manenti.
