À propos du cours

Right after work is prime time for movement, focus, and release. Our After Work Flow Open60 meets you right there with the signature Open class of our Jivamukti Yoga lineage in a compact 60-minute format, designed as a crisp yet strong practice to help you shift gears from the demands of the day. It’s the perfect combination of good workout, spiritual grounding, and a great community in one of the most popular yoga schools of town.

Whether you’re a beginner, deciphering the difference between vṛkṣāsana (tree) and śīrṣāsana (headstand), or an advanced yogi who can put both feet behind their head, the class welcomes you, as it is open to practitioners of all levels. You practice at your own pace, following the teacher’s verbal and hands-on guidance. Āsana options will be provided for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students.

A typical Open class incorporates the five tenets of our Jivamukti Yoga lineage: śāstra (scripture), bhakti (devotion), ahiṁsā (nonviolence), nāda (sound), and dhyāna (meditation), presenting classical yogic teachings as relevant to life on and off the mat. This is supported by chanting, breath awareness, flowing vinyāsa sequences, alignment exploration, hands-on assistance, relaxation, and meditation.

All Open classes in our Jivamukti Yoga lineage include 14 points: āsanas, meditation, and spiritual teachings, in a sequence creatively designed by the teacher. Exuberant, eclectic music plays an integral role: you might practice to a shifting soundtrack of rāgas, global trance, hip-hop, spoken word, George Harrison, Sting, Krishna Das, Donna de Lory, Michael Franti, Bill Laswell, Alice Coltrane, and Mozart.

Open classes are called “Open” because they are open and suitable for all levels of practitioners. However, beginning students should note that there will not be detailed “how to” instructions; for that, students are advised to attend our Foundations, Basic, or Open(M) classes.

What makes the After Work Flow Open60 special is its timing and energy: practiced at the prime workout hour of the day, you get to sweat, stretch, and flow together with a great group of yogis still charged from the day. It’s crisp, powerful, and refreshing, leaving you lighter, calmer, and ready to enjoy your evening.

À propos de l'entraîneur/professeur

Rob was first introduced to yoga at the Jivamukti yoga studio in Sydney, initially taking restorative classes to balance out the thousands of kilometres he was covering on his bicycle each month as an endurance cyclist and cycling teacher. After being hit by a car while cycling in Colorado, Rob turned to yoga as part of his rehabilitation process and experienced the power of the practice to transform, both physically and philosophically. With the desire to prioritise and centre yogic and meditative practice in his life, Rob left behind Australia, an established career in cycling and an incomplete PhD in anarchist philosophy, and moved to Berlin in 2018. He has been a constant presence in the Three Boons Yoga Berlin studio ever since. For Rob yoga is a radical activity, confronting us with fundamental questions about who we are, what we value and how we are to live our lives, but also providing us with the tools, capacity and clarity to answer those questions for ourselves. Om bolo shri satguru bhagavan ki. Rob completed his initial 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Rocky Heron at YogaCircle Berlin, has pursued mindfulness and compassion-based meditation training with Phoebe Kiddo at The Dream Haus and has completed the 630+hour Three Boons Mentoring Program under the guidance of Filiz Avunduk and Tara Sullivan.
