À propos du cours

Find your balance between day and evening. Our Afternoon Flow Open75 is the signature Open class of our Jivamukti Yoga lineage, taught in a 75-minute format that offers more time to explore than the Afternoon Express Open60, while still being shorter than the classic 95-minute Open class. This extended afternoon practice gives space to settle into the flow, recharge deeply, and transition smoothly into your evening with clarity and strength.

Whether you’re a beginner, deciphering the difference between vṛkṣāsana (tree) and śīrṣāsana (headstand), or an advanced yogi who can put both feet behind their head, the class welcomes you, as it is open to practitioners of all levels. You practice at your own pace, following the teacher’s verbal and hands-on guidance. Āsana options will be provided for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students.

A typical Open class incorporates the five tenets of our Jivamukti Yoga lineage: śāstra (scripture), bhakti (devotion), ahiṁsā (nonviolence), nāda (sound), and dhyāna (meditation), presenting classical yogic teachings as relevant to life on and off the mat. This is supported by chanting, breath awareness, flowing vinyāsa sequences, alignment exploration, hands-on assistance, relaxation, and meditation.

All Open classes in our Jivamukti Yoga lineage include 14 points: āsanas, meditation, and spiritual teachings, in a sequence creatively designed by the teacher. Exuberant, eclectic music plays an integral role: you might practice to a shifting soundtrack of rāgas, global trance, hip-hop, spoken word, George Harrison, Sting, Krishna Das, Donna de Lory, Michael Franti, Bill Laswell, Alice Coltrane, and Mozart.

Open classes are called “Open” because they are open and suitable for all levels of practitioners. However, beginning students should note that there will not be detailed “how to” instructions; for that, students are advised to attend our Foundations, Basic, or Open(M) classes.

What makes the Afternoon Flow Open75 special is its timing and format: practiced in the late afternoon, it provides a chance to immerse yourself more fully in the flow of Jivamukti Yoga—longer and steadier than the Afternoon Express Open60, yet still more time-efficient than the classic 95-minute class. It’s the perfect way to recharge after the day and flow with strength and ease into your evening.

À propos de l'entraîneur/professeur

Ian is the Teacher Program Director and Co-Founder at Jivamukti Yoga Paris. He aims to inspire and serve others by offering an integrated practice and experience of Yoga, as he learned it from his teachers. To Ian, yoga practice is not only a means to achieve liberation but also an embodiment of liberation itself, as taught in the vibrant tradition of Jivamukti Yoga. He is passionate about practicing and teaching Jivamukti. For many years, he attended classes as a student at the center in New York, and this daily ritual enriched his life to such an extent that he is eager to share this love with others. Ian is grateful to all his teachers and mentors over the years, particularly Rima Rabbath, whose dedication and service inspired him to follow this path to the best of his ability. Ian believes that yoga can be a tool to help us become more receptive and nourish our highest potential. According to him, yoga asanas not only transform the physical body and promote radiant health, but working with the other limbs of Yoga can purify our subtlest form and prepare us to be better vessels, better servants, and allow us to shine like light, as the Buddha said.
